Resurrecting the old me

Hello all, 49 year old male originally from Texas, US and now settled into Melbourne, Australia for about 24 years. I used to play Football (the American good stuff), as an offensive lineman for Texas Tech but times, bad habits and lifestyle choices have made a mess of me. I am obese and have tried and tried to battle this, but that little devil version of me on the left shoulder always wins.
So the wife has joined up with me for a huge support post and to help me overcome my lack of discipline and push me on the right track. Being diagnosed with major anxiety I have social issues when in crowds and found out the hard way that a gym membership was not such a good idea, so we canned that and bought equipment to start making our own gym and adding new gear to it frequently. Also to break my mind set I have jumped on The Man Shake program to try and reprogram my thinking, portions and learning to count my macros. The only deviation from The Man Shake program is an orange or banana before I jump into the gym and a whey protein shake directly after all my weight training has stopped.
My goals and focus are to start off with lighter weights, retrain my form and technique, providing a bit of tone to my muscles as I attempt to shred some fat from a low calorie diet (the calories from The Man Shake will not sustain intense heavy lifting for muscle and strength). Once I get to the stage where I want to start pushing the weight load up, I will have to ditch The Man Shake for more wholesome foods and play the Macros game and hence why I have picked up MyFitnessPal to start learning early so when that time comes, I will already be acclimated to the system or any changes that may come from updates. So with my first post being a "Wall of Text" I might leave it there and hoped I introduced myself adequately and am completely open to any critic or praise as you see fit
