App not capturing steps correctly

I have a problem with which the MFP app seems to have its own will and would collect iPhone step information only to the level it wants. I use iPhone for step measurement in MFP. For example, last Sunday, I’ve took 11k+ steps, I’ve double checked and it was calculated both by my iPhone and my watch band. However, MFP says I’ve took just 5600 steps that day. There’s days where it’s more precise,’for example today, when I did 8800 steps and the app says it’s 7700. It always misses the steps by the thousands, never more than normal but always less than normal.
I’ve tried (multiple times) updating the app, syncing it, closing and opening it, unlinking and relinking with apple health. Nothing seems to help. What can I do for a more precise reading by MFP?
