I finally got my backside into gear after four years of weight denial. I was up to 191 lbs after having my little boy and want to get back down to around 135 lbs. I've lost 18 lbs over the last 9 weeks using a low calorie, fewer carb diet with more exercise , kettlebell class and some at home. I still have 35 lbs to lose and would like to get rid of around 20 of those by Christmas. Any tips on how to continue this journey in a sensible way. I don't want to crash diet but I'm happy to eat less carbs as they flare up my IBS anyway x

You're going at an aggressive 2lb/week pace as it is. Keep doing what you're doing.0

Thanks. The weight loss has stalled over the last two week and I haven't changed what Im doing. Any suggestions on how to kick start again?0

Some carbs will flare up my IBS as well. In particular breads and pastas. I think you seem to be going strong!0

Give it another two weeks to see if things will move along on their own. If it doesn't maybe the 2 lb a week deficit is too much. Try 1.5 lbs?0 -
You're getting pretty close to your goal. I have about 25lbs left to go and I'm losing roughly .5 to 1lb/week. You should be able to lose 20lbs by Christmas though.0

Thanks Everyone,
I'm going to keep going and see if it picks up again, going to up my exercise as well. I'm determined to get there! Any tips for best exercise for weight loss?0 -
Your diary is closed....if you open it, people could peek inside and see if there is anything glaring that you might need to change. : )0

And you can't rely on exercise for weight loss. Simplest explanation is that you will be gaining muscle mass in place of the fat you shed. Inch for inch it weighs more, so you may be getting smaller but not losing weight.0

Also, hey, remember the closer you get to your target/ideal weight the harder it becomes to affect loss. The energy expended needs to increase in duration or intensity because you're lighter and metabolically more efficient now. So you're going to have to go longer or harder to make up for the reduced energy it takes to move yourself around.
It took me a while to come to terms with the 20 minutes I was doing on the stairmaster wasn't going to cut it forever. You're body adapts to what you do to it, it learns to conserve it's energy store (fat). So, up it. Add weight training or serious HIIT work.

Ooo no, I know I cant rely on exercise for weight loss, I know most of it is diet, which I am doing. But I enjoy the exercise, I don't mind having more muscle just wish there was less fat. Im going to take measurements so I can check inch loss too.
I think im just being impatient is all.
The weight seems to be going off my face and tummy but I do wish I would lose off my thighs!0 -

Stupid body.
I do kettlebell class an hour a week, then supplement with mini kettle workouts daily. This is improving my core strenght but doesnt seem to aid weight loss but build muscle. I think I need to do some cardio but I hate to run! My stamina sucks!
Stupid body indeed!0 -
At this point I'd change my goal to losing 1lb a week, personally.0
