Gaining weight before loosing it?

Hi all. Wanted to start a thread about the first few weeks of weight loss. I am in my early twenties and am 79kg at the moment and ideally, want to be 72kg. But i'm 2 weeks in to this weight loss journey and despite starting to run and weight train more with a good calorie deficit and lots of fruit/veg, I still gained around 0.5-1kg in the first week. Wondering if anyone else has also seen a weight increase before you loose it!

With new training you are going to retain water to help your body repair.

I'd strongly suggest you stick close to any new weight management regimen for 4-6 weeks before evaluating your average weekly results. (If it applies to you, compare body weight at the same relative point in at least 2 different menstrual cycles.)

Over shorter time periods, water weight fluctuations can be surprisingly distorting. Bodies can be 60%+ water, y'know . . . and fluctuating water levels is part of how healthy bodies stay healthy. After a while, you'll learn more about your personal patterns.

Especially read the article linked in the first post there.
