How did I get here? Trying to lose 20lbs

Hey everyone! I’m starting up again after years of not tracking my food intake and looking to lose approx 18-20lbs. My weight gain has happened somewhat slowly over the years and now I don’t like what I see in the mirror. Right before before COVID lockdown I gained 3-4lbs, then during COVID lockdown I gained another 5lbs, and then had a baby in 2022 and retained about 8-10lbs. Total is approx 18-20lbs that have slowly crept its way up and honestly scares me that I let myself go like this.
I’m so ready to shed this weight and feel good about myself. My daughter is 15 month old now and I was hoping that at least all the baby weight would have just magically went away, but no it hasn’t…
I had a couple months where I was “mindfully eating” (no diet or calories counting, just eating lots of veggies and limit snacking) and doing lots of walking and Pilates and it helped me lose 4 lbs! But when things got really busy with work, travel, being a mom, I did more takeout, carbs, drinking and less movement and I end up gaining it all back.
I’m a tired working mom and I need accountability to not give in to the carbs, drinks, sugar, and takeout when stressed. I want to be active and stay active for the rest of my life. I also have a trip to Hawaii in 2 months and considering trying to have another child soon. So I want to look great on my trip and also actually be in a healthy physical state prior to trying to conceive.
If there’s any moms or just someone who can relate, let me know if you want to keep each accountable.
