For me, consciously increasing my fruit intake (to 3 servings daily) helped me reduce cravings for less nutritious but higher calorie sweets like candy or baked goods. That doesn't work for everyone, but I've seen some other people here say it helped them, too, so it may be worth a try.
The effect was gradual, so it took a little will power for a small number of weeks (2-4, I forget). Eventually, I could cut back on fruit somewhat if I wanted to, and keep the effect . . . but I still do eat fruit frequently. In the long run, a lot of common sugar-y things started tasting way too simple and way too sweet, not worth the calories. Now and then, I still enjoy a good dessert, but it isn't a craving or obsession, and I prefer things that have something going for them flavor-wise besides "just sweet".0 -
