🙋🏻‍♀️How important is water?💧

Hey there!
How crucial is the consumption of water to weight loss?
And how much should I be drinking (I’m 5’6 206#’s)?

it isn't crucial for weight loss, IMHO way too much emphasis is put on it. It can help make you feel fuller/less hungry, and obviously you also need sufficient water for your health. (it sounds contradictory, but not drinking enough water can cause water retention)

Requirements are highly individual: how much you sweat, the climate you're in, how active you are. Aim for a pale yellow color of urine and you're fine.

It's not really relevant at all. Most studies I've seen show that water goes through you so fast that it doesn't impact satiety. Drink when you're thirsty, don't when you're not.

Hydration is important. Lack thereof can cause a bunch of problems that aren't very nice, and yes it can interfere with a few metabolic functions and can also be potentially life threating. Water works as does pretty much any liquid and your food represents about 20%. Pale urine is a good indicator that your well hydrated and I would be sucking back electrolytes if I was out in the heat and sweating or working out. Cheers

For weightloss it's not, but for essential health and optimal training it is especially if you sweat alot.
A consensus for people who work out a lot is just drink have your weight in ounces. So for you about 100 ounces give or take. Many gym rats tout a gallon a day, but IMO that just makes you pee alot.

I think the general thing about water is most US adults (so surveys say) are under-hydrated, so most people should be drinking more water than they are. While people may be drinking enough water, they may offset it with lots of caffeine and high sodium diet.

It's good for your health anyway. I always have water handy, and I start the day with downing a full glass.
