Protein

Hi does anyone else have a problem keeping to 75g of protein? I haven't lost weight in 5 weeks and the only thing that I can see consistently is that my protein is always over. Really fed up because I weigh and log everything calories ok but my protein is always over.

In my opinion it's ok to go over in protein, but it does mean you'll have to eat less of other things.

It's fine to go over 75 g protein.

There are mistakes that people commonly make that cause them to not lose weight that we might be able to spot if you change your Diary Sharing settings to Public. In the app, go to Settings > Diary Setting > Diary Sharing > and check Public. Desktop: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/diary_settings

Agree with others: Over protein goal is fine, as long as within calorie goal and getting adequate nutrition in other respects (healthy fats, fiber, veggies/fruits for micros).

In fact, if a person is going to be over on any macro, protein may be a good choice (as long as there isn't pre-existing kidney disease or some other specific contraindication). Depending on personal details, some of us can benefit from more than the MFP default; and protein requires slightly more calories to digest/metabolize than either fats or carbs. (That would be a higher TEF, thermic effect of food.)

You may have your calorie target set too high hence no loss. Protein is a macro that is the least likely to be a cause of not losing.

With a TEF of 20-25% and high satiating factor it’s good to prioritize it over other macros .
