I am new here. I am contemplating going vegetarian. I have 60 pounds I am going to lose and I have lost 125 pounds. My determination is to be the healthiest I can be. I plan on hitting my goal July of 2024. Any tips? Thank you

    Hello, and welcome!

Congratulations on your success so far - that bodes well for your success with the next 60 pounds. I'm cheering for you!

If you have questions about how to eat healthfully as a vegetarian, I might be able to help . . . but I'm hoping you've already researched the nutritional issues. There are some nutrients to pay special attention to (and it's not just protein).

I've been vegetarian for 49 years, thin to fat to obese and back again. There are good reasons to be vegetarian, but I don't feel that being vegetarian is healthier than being an omnivore, and I for sure don't think it has any direct effect on weight management (since I got fat that way, and managed to stay overweight/obese for a dozen years that way while training hard and competing athletically).

Good nutrition is important IMO, certainly. I do think most people eat fewer veggies/fruits than ideal, since (according to surveys), most don't even come near the recommended 5 daily servings.

Wishing you much continuing success, whatever you decide!
