The scan items button no longer works on android

in MyFitnessPal Tech Support Questions
My wife and I both use myfitnesspal but for the last few months have noticed that we can no longer use our phones to "scan" barcodes. We touch the button and the phone clicks to say the button has been clicked but it never shows the camera.

    A Premium, paid subscription is now required to scan bar codes. From other threads, it appears that MFP made this change several months ago.
