Hi everyone

I'm new to this new app. I need some help with figuring it out. About to turn 66 and need to lose weight badly.
I have lots if limitations physically so it's to figure out what my body can handle or not.

    Hi, and welcome!

I'm 67, but have been here a while (weight loss, then maintenance).

If by physical limitations you mean things that limit exercise, that's OK. Weight loss is more about scaling calorie intake so it's just a little bit below the calories we burn, and we burn calories just being alive, plus from things like home chores or job.

Exercise is good for a person health-wise, but strictly speaking it's optional for weight loss. If there are mild exercise things you can do without health or injury risk, those will help you burn a few more calories and get stronger/fitter. It's a total myth that exercise has to be intense or punitive in order to be beneficial.

If your health overall has some challenges, it may be a good idea to shoot for a slow weight loss rate, like no more than 0.5% of your current weight per week. Weight loss is a physical stress, and adding that to other health challenges can make things more stressful or risky.

I know we all want to lose fat fast, but slow loss we can stick with healthfully and reasonably happily can potentially get us to goal weight in less calendar time than a fast weight loss rate that results in increased health problems, compensatory overeating, fatigue/weakness, or maybe long breaks or even giving up altogether.

Patient persistence is a good thing, IMO, when it comes to weight loss. (I lost 50-some pounds at age 59-60, after around 30 previous years of overweight/obesity, and have been at a healthy weight for 7+ years since.) I think it can be achievable at any age.

I'm cheering for you to succeed!
