My Foods: Why can't we scan into this?

I'd like to scan items into the My Foods list because my Recents list seems to frequently not save items I've used even more than once.

    The bar code scanner has been a premium only feature for US users for well over six months now.

    There is no way to scan a bar code when adding to MyFoods, even with a Premium paid subscription.
