Points? Are you doing WW or something like that in addition to calorie counting?

It's unclear to me whether you ate over your normal goal calories, or over your normal goal calories plus exercise calories.

Here's the thing: It doesn't really matter.

What you do the majority of days is what determines the majority of your results, not one day that happens to be outside the intended pattern.

On top of that, you have to eat above maintenance calories to gain weight. If the 1580 is your goal calories for weight loss, and if you told MFP you want to lose a pound a week, but you ate 500 calories above your calorie goal . . . odds are good that you maintained your goal weight today. That means you've delayed reaching your goal weight by one whole day.

Is that a big deal? I don't think so, personally. It's a drop in the ocean.

Spend a few minutes thinking about this current perceived "problem".

Was a delay in reaching goal weight worth it? (If it were my birthday and I was celebrating, it would be, for me.) If so, just get back on your intended routine and don't worry about it.

If it wasn't worth it, subjectively, think about why it happened, what triggered it. Revise your plans based on that to try to avoid a repeat. (Example: If you were hungry after the exercise, maybe plan a small snack into your day before or after the workout, see if that helps avoid extreme appetite.) Rehearse that plan in your head vividly so it'll kick in next time the circumstances arise. Spend no more than 10 minutes on this whole process, then let it go.

Next time, if your new plan works, keep that strategy in your toolkit. If it doesn't work, think of something new to try. Keep going. Eventually, it'll all gel. As long as you persist, you can succeed.

And that will be more than OK.

    Best wishes!
