Consistent in the gym but I don’t want to build any more muscle

Hi! I’m have been very consistent in the gym and I was hoping someone could help me with my diet. I am not looking to build any more muscle but rather lower my body fat%. I have been eating a high protein diet and I can see the results, and I plan on being consistent and continuing to go to the gym but would losing my protein intake be a good way to maintain the muscle and lose the weight? If so how do I stay full?

How many grams protein per pound, and how overweight are you?

You'd typically want to keep the protein high, and keep lifting with frequency, and lower your total calories below maintenance by a few hundred.

High enough protein, lower calories and good training and you'll lose fat and maintain muscle

If you cut protein and keep exercising, your body won't have the nutrients it needs to recover from the workout.

If you cut protein and reduce/stop exercising, your body won't have any reason to keep the muscle, and your weight loss will be part fat, part muscle.

So your question of if it is a good idea to lower protein intake to lose weight, the answer is usually no. Keep the protein up, keep exercising, and reduce some combination of fats/carbs to lower calories. This is how you keep muscle while losing weight.
