Hi

Hi everybody
I am finally back to my proper weight but I need to learn to live right. After losing my wife to a drunk driver and getting cancer my weight has really fluctuated a lot. I hope this app will help

    Hi, and welcome!

It can work. For me, once that switch in my head flipped to "I mean it, this time", improvement was pretty straightforward . . . not psychologically easy every second, by far, of course . . . but doable, with patience and persistence, including the willingness to regroup and recommit if things went temporarily sideways.

Though it's 20+ years in the past for me, I can relate to some extent with your experience. In my mid-40s, I lost my husband to esophageal cancer, then got stage III breast cancer myself. It was . . . to use a term I coined back then . . . sub-recreational. But it did get smaller in my rear-view mirror, and after a time I found ways to have a very different but still satisfying life.

Though it was wrenching in other ways I think it did help me that my husband and I faced his death together, so I had the gift of understanding that he deeply wanted me to go on without him, and be happy. If I could give up that gift to have him back, or even to spare him the pain of the last weeks . . . well, you know what I'm going to say. But things are the way they are, not the way I might wish they could've been.

Congratulations on taking these steps to turn a corner and move ahead. I'm cheering for you to succeed!
