My weight in my scale has not dropped but my clothes are fitting looser?

It’s very frustrating because i have been in a defecit for so long and my weight actually have gone up then went down since i been hitting the gym but i measured my self with a tape measurement and i lost 2 inches from my waist? And tight pants are finally fitting? This is so frustrating because right now i don’t know if am actually losing weight since the scale is not showing any results. But i also do strength training with weights in the gym i don’t know if this could have impacted anything or i have built some lean muscle along the way. Should i stop strength training for now and see if the actual weight i lost shows up?

Isn't your body composition more important than the number on the scale?
Depending on the time-line (how long have you been at it?) water retention from the exercise is masking fat loss on the scale, or you've actually built muscle. Being smaller for the same weight in any case means you have improved your body composition (less bodyfat).4 -

Frustrating? Sounds like you are doing great. Waist down 2", clothes fitting better. Keep doing what you're doing.
This video from one of my favorite YouTubers Mark Lewis is relevant here. A few of the vids include his wife doing her fitness journey a couple of years after he started posting about his. She started from slim but unfit, and three months later she was 2kg heavier, from 55kg (121.25 lbs) to 57kg (125.6 lbs). That part of the interview starts around 16:30 below and lasts two minutes. As Mark said to her, "If I said to you at the start that you'd get bigger legs and arms and weigh 2kg more, you'd have said no.", but she prefers her 'now' pictures to 'before' even though she's 2kg (4.4 pounds) heavier. She looks better and she's also much fitter and stronger than before.
Body composition and overall fitness is more important than the number on the scale.

How can you say you are unsure of whether or not you are losing weight if you have lost inches on your waist and clothes fit looser?
The number on the scale is not just weighing your body fat - and presumably when someone says they want to lose weight they mean, body fat.
Forget about the scale. Stop using it altogether - you are losing weight. You know it. That's all you need.1 -
Scale measurement is only a tool and by no means a full picture of one's health and fitness journey. No one really cares about your weight but your doctor. But you'll always hear about how someone looks.
