Hi, Newbie here!

After years of yo-yo diets and slimming world / weight watchers and various other fad diets and going full pelt for a few weeks then having a bad day and finding myself just giving up, I’ve decided to just try and do things differently, do it slowly and in a way I can keep up with it. Making changes to the way I eat and slowly introducing exercise. I have a long way to go to reach my target weight but feeling determined! nice to see there is a community on here! Be nice to be able to chat to people in the same boat.

    I think you're on to something, though admittedly that's just one woman's opinion.

    It's pretty much what I did to lose weight (class 1 obese to a healthy weight) and stay at a healthy weight for 7+ years since, so far. I decided I wasn't going to do anything to lose weight I wasn't willing to continue forever to stay at a healthy weight once I got there, other than a sensibly moderate calorie deficit until I got to a reasonable goal weight.

    That put a premium on experimenting, finding sustainable tactics, practicing them until they became routine habits I could keep up almost on autopilot when other parts of life got demanding. (Somehow, they always do, seems like!) So far, so good.

    Hi Sammilou! You got this girl!! Motivation can be challenging at times but I tell myself just 5 minutes and you can stop. Truth is once you start your exercise you don't stop! These little games we have to play with ourselves. Just remember we are all in this together. 👊

    Years of WW, slimming world etc I've just gone back to calorie tracking on mfp as seems to be the most effective at losing and maintaining. As soon a si stop following the plans the weight goes back on. We've got this and we can do it

    Hi anyone on here doing the IF 16.8 way of eating as well as using mfp , 2st to lose so going to give it all a go
