Protein powder -vs- hot water

I bought, let’s just say less than good for you, instant oats for quick breakfasts and was wondering if the hot water would degrade a plant based protein powder that I want to add to said oats? Any advice or knowledge is greatly appreciated.

I have great value quick oats with Orgain protein powder daily. I do not think anything is wrong with it.

Perfect! Thanks for the reply. Using the flavored instant oats and cringed when I saw the protein (or lack there of) in them. I’ll be using the same protein powder as well0

Instant oatmeal, a scoop of protein powder=win.1

my nutritionist has some recipes for bakes (like baked oats) that all have protein powder in them - so I think you are safe0

You might just want to mix the water and protein powder really well before you add to the oats - hot water in the powder I use causes yakky clumps. So a good whisk gets rid of them but that might be tricky with oats if you mix all at once.0

Yes, hot water generally causes PP to clump. I was thinking to do the water with the oats first though, and let it cool a little before adding the PP.1 -

Denaturing doesn't affect the nutritional value of protein. If it did, we'd get no benefit from a cooked egg, steak, chop, etc.1 -
