Any rock climbers on MyFitnessPal?

Options
Hi! My fitness goals currently are revolving around improving my rock climbing. I'd like to lose some weight as a part of that (~30-40 lbs?) since I'm a bit overweight and obviously weighing less would be an advantage in moving up a rock wall.

Anyway, I thought it would be fun to connect with other rock climbers with similar goals. If you happen to be in the same boat, feel free to friend me or to shoot me a message, or respond here!

Ooh, this is new and cool! Hi :) I do indoors bouldering with a group of friends (all male, with ridiculous upper body strength) and have often found upper body strength a limiting factor for me.
At 153 lb/5'3" height I am theoretically overweight, but I've built some decent muscle in the past year, and my arm, back and shoulders are beginning to look and feel stronger. I am confident that my next bouldering session I might graduate to like v3 problems.

My training includes 5k runs, a custom full-body resistance training circuit that I do 3-4 days/week, some infrequent Brazilian jiu-jitsu with friends, and my pull-up bar training at home (that I sadly had to neglect during my vacation due to some traveling, I couldn't exactly bring the pull-up bar! So sad.).

Right now I can't do any unassisted pull-ups. I am using a 50-60lb. resistance band to get into the motion, on a good day I can crank out about 5 sets of up to 4 assisted pull-ups. It's gotten me more confident in my upper body strength, but I'm still ages away from what my male friends can do at the climbing gym!

If you are interested in checking out the protocol I am following for pull-ups, you can check out this video from Jeremy Ethier: https://youtu.be/syS4M1G-rII or this one from megsquats https://youtu.be/x3NPAxiMRPw

    Cheers!
