Is there a separate meal plan builder that I can use in addition to my food journal?

When I'm meal prepping and planning my meals, I use the diary ahead of time to plan out my days when possible. But what I'm looking for is an app or website that will let me build a meal plan for a week, moving things around and making changes as needed before committing them to my food diary.
I can do this on a spreadsheet if needed, or continue to use the food diary as I have been, but first wanted to see if there are other options out there.

Is there some reason you can't do that in the diary? Move things around and change them until you've got them the way you want them?
There's no commitment from logging them. MFP isn't going to send someone to arrest you if you make changes after you log some.0 -

Lol. 😅 I can continue to do it that way. I was kind of looking for something that's a bit more planning-focused, maybe something that would show a week at a glance.

Check out the Paprika app. It's a mealplanner where you can put I'm your weekly meal plan. And it's free.0 -

That sounds like it might be what you're looking. I'm not familiar with it.
Just going to point out that you can go into the nutrition tab in MFP and change the view from daily to weekly and the date range you're looking at.
To me it just sounds like a pain to plan out meals in another app and then have to relog them (look for the right database entries, etc.) in MFP. If the other app is good for what you want, why not just do your logging there? You can still come to the forums and chat!0 -
I am back on MFP now after a long break and have in the past done this by entering precooked foods as recipes, with the total weight in grams as the number of servings. For example, I precooked 3000g of lentil stew and 2000g of kale salad last weekend. I then add these to different meals ahead of time and take a look at the nutrition across the day before I start eating and adding snacks. It sounds cumbersome, but is minimal effort (except for the cooking), once you’re used to it. I tried intent and the forks over meals meal planners, but prefer my own recipes over theirs…1
