When you earn back calories for exercising do you eat more calories?

    Yes. That is the way MFP is set up. If I run 5 miles and burn 500 calories, but only eat 1200, that would give me a net calorie intake of only 700 calories. Not a good idea. If you don't eat back at least some of your calories, you could be way under your calorie goal, which can have health repercussions and makes it harder to fuel your activities and stick to your diet plan.

    I've eaten all my exercise calories, through just under a year of weight loss (class 1 obese to a healthy weight) and 7+ years of weight maintenance since.

    As others have stated..yes, that is how MFP is set up.

    The calorie goal it gives you is already set at a deficit (IF you chose you wanted to 'lose weight')...so any intentional calories you burn on top of that are added back to keep you at the same deficit level. This is because when MFP asks you about your activity level it doesn't intend for you to include your intentional exercise, just your general lifestyle (job/regular activity that isn't an intentional work out).
