Steps and workout calories

My husband and I are both using fitness pal. We have noticed that if we don’t workout, fitness pal credits us calories for steps from our iPhones. However, if we do workout, we get calorie credit for our workout, but lose the calories for our steps. Shouldn’t we get calories for both the workout and the steps?

... I don't have my iPhone connected to MFP like that - and actually just noticed that my iPhone now calculates BMR and active calories daily.

But...yeah, if you have it set to add the steps...it should still do that, even if you work out since you are still using active energy for those steps...? Maybe there's a technical glitch?

Keep in mind that the calorie adjustment is supposed to be a reconciliation of the total calories MFP thinks you'd burn based on profile settings, and the calories the tracker thinks you'd burn based on its various measurements/estimates. That is, when properly implemented, the total calorie adjustment is unlikely to match either your steps calories or your exercise calories on the tracker side, let alone the total of the two.

That said, there are suspicions that Apple implemented their side of the interface incorrectly, so that it's not working right in some scenarios. I don't know for sure, because I don't use an Apple device. We used to suggest that Apple users link through the Pacer app to MFP, but I think Pacer support has been dropped.
