Hi guys! I'm new to this community believe it or not and I wanted to know what is the best way for me to PROPERLY lose weight. I've been in recovery (ana) for a year and want to shoot for a healthy comfortable weight goal. Currently i'm 135lb and 5''5! My plan was to eat 1500 -1600 and get 10k everyday for a month. Does this seem like a good idea?

What does your treatment team say about tracking calories and exercise? I think you need to be talking to them.

(I hope quoting is replying to you 😭) I initially started all in recovery by myself so there is no team in mind! I do see a nutritionist next month though so ofc I can bring up the question but in the mean time I figured I'd ask here. Thanks for the recommendation tho!0 -
I'm no expert by any means, but maybe concentrate on eating healthy meals with needed nutrition and calories, then worry about the number of steps and exercise later after you meet with the nutritionist? I'm just getting back to this all myself and right now my focus is eating the right things only.1

Thank you! You're right, i'll focus on eating nutritious meals only until the day of my appointment C:0 -
If a pyromaniac who has NOT played with matches and has NOT started a fire during these past 12 months walked up to you and asked you how he could safely play with matches in the privacy of their own home --- what suggestions would you give them?
your current weight is in the middle of the green zone and is posing ZERO danger to your health.
What health benefits will you accrue by playing with fire?8 -
It depends on how your ED is and how well you know yourself. Is counting calories a slippery or outright dangerous slope for you? If so I wouldn't recommend tracking calories. Are you going to be able to be honest with yourself if it DOES become a slippery slope for you? That's important. Or if you notice you feel bad or have issues with weighing yourself (or other body checking type behaviors)...will it bother you a lot if you don't lose weight consistently or even gain some lbs on the scale?
These are all things I'd suggest you speak to your nutritionist about when you go for your appt. Also - great job on working on recovery and taking the step to work with a nutritionist. It sounds like your focus is being healthy...and that's great. =D
One idea could be to have the nutritionist help you figure out a good macro split for yourself and *only track your macros* as opposed to calories. That would be more like ensuring you are getting the proper amount of fats, carbs, and protein. Your goal of 10K steps is also great. From what you've said I think your calorie goal of 1500-1600 is a great place to start if you do end up choosing to track your calories though.0 -
