Bunions/ pre and post op workout recommendations

Hi everyone,
I am currently waiting to have double bunion removal surgery.
Has anyone had this? Any suggestions on exercises pre and post op?
I will essentially have two broken feet for 8 weeks according to my surgeon.
I used to be a long distance runner and did weight training and yoga but my body is nowhere near the level of fitness it used to be.
The daily pain I get from both feet is excruciating and my left foot is pretty messed up so it’s hard to have good form/balance for lunges.
I am going to start tracking everything to ensure a calorie deficit.
Does anyone have any advice for exercises that have helped them prepare for surgery? I have two young kids so I need to give my body the best chance at a speedy recovery.
Surgery is about 6-9 months out but I’m also on standby for cancellation.

Exercise your legs as much as you can because once you have surgery, they will atrophy quick when not in use. You can recover faster from being fit than being sedentary.
I had a client who had bunion surgery and was still able to have them do legs albeit everything had to be done from the heels to ensure the toe would heal correctly.
Also, buy wider shoes at the toe. While I do have shoes that constrict my toes at work, once I'm off I wear toe spacers and walk around barefoot as much as possible.

I had a customer of mine tell me not to do surgery, that it's not worth it. I've been wearing moccasins and the barefoot shoes instead of my beloved boots and heels. My feet hurt less, so I am hoping to prevent having to have surgery later. If you have surgery, let us know how it goes!0

No advice but just sending a hug! I have a mild bunion on one foot and the pain from that little bugger is horrible at times. Can’t imagine having two so good luck!0
