I've recently stumbled upon a great cardio workout: STEP AEROBICS! I'm desperate to continue with this workout as it's much more exciting than that dull dreaded treadmill and it curbs the chub rub. However, I read that as a pear shape, I should avoid this workout as it will only bulk me up. How true is this?
Please feel free to add me, fellow pears!:)

The only thing that will "bulk" you up is a calorie surplus.
Eat less than you need and do some exercise you enjoy. You'll always be pear shaped, but you can lose weight from your thighs. Strength training will also help.0 -
As a fellow pear shape, and former step aerobics instructor, it will not increase your booty size through muscle gain. Only over eating will do that. It's a fabulous leg and glute and everything else workout. Do It!0

No you won't bulk up because I've been lifting, doing aerobics, doing squats with weights and any resistance training you can think of for the past 2 months. I'm also pear shaped look at my results:

Nahhh! You wont bulk up. You'll just tone and strengthen. You'll be fine.I'm also a pear. I used to love step.. I'm doing T25 now and it's pretty awesome. BTW make sure you some kind of arm strengthening exercises while you are doing step.0

It depends on how pear shaped you are and how much weight you have to lose, but aerobic exercises don't usually make women bigger. If there are a lot of high step ups and lunges and squats that might be a different matter. You don't want to do anything that's going to challenge the glutes too much.0

I did Step Aerobics for 3 years on MWF because I loved the class.
It was back in the day when I was a young mother with no weight problem. I look back at photos from that time and I looked amazing. Just be sure that you are doing the movements properly and you will have amazing results.0
