Diverticulosis

In June I had an attack of diverticulitis. Very painful! Spent 4 days in hospital. Never want to do that again. I learned that one of the causes of diverticulosis is obesity. Even though I've lost a total of 100 lbs, I'm still considered obese. So, I'm looking to lose about 50 lbs more to get within a healthy weight range.

I too have diverticulosis, I had lost weight in the past, but gained it back since the Coronavirus. I weigh 210 pounds and very much need to lose weight. I would love to find a simple diet for my diverticulosis. No offense, but none of those fancy foods diets. I like plain and simple, with a few spices of course. 😆

I am not overweight but also have diverticulosis. I am currently on Day 20 of an attack and on my second course of antibiotics. I don't think it is only obese people who get attacks of diverticulitis but I do think diet helps. I avoid all 'junk' food. As soon as I 'cheat' and eat processed food too often, I will get an attack. So I try to keep to simple food - a paleo type of diet works for me. It is easy to stick to but we are all human and our memory tells us that certain no-no foods are delicious. The truth is that healthy whole foods are more delicious. It is a mindset. If I am not hungry, I don't eat the wrong food. So I choose a satisfying diet. The more carbs you eat the hungrier you get - so avoid that kind of food. I am ill at the moment because I made the wrong food choices while on holiday - it's just not worth it!
