Hello, All

Just started up on MyFitnessPal. In the past, I used another App. I am, however, like many people who remain inconsistent. This time, my lack of consistency has me taking BP meds, Cholesterol Meds. Honestly it has been my laziness.
Anyway, going back to work after 4 yrs without exercise or diet. Happy to take any encouragement or suggestion.

@ggerics Welcome. What other apps or programs have you tried? Before MFP I was a Spark member. I also did a Noom course. I like MFP for the community aspect and the food diary.

I also was on MYPlate, which I think was part of Spark. I used the app diligently whenever I worked out regularly But consistency is my problem. I really only dieted and worked out when I needed to--when I was close to being pre-Diabletic, or when my BP was getting too high. Once I'd work through that to the Dr's satisfaction (no meds), I'd end up quitting and going back to bad habits.

I've gotten a scare, high BP, triglycerides off the chart, very high cholesterol, and my Gout has been a killer. So I'm on the straight and narrow again , probably for a long time, maybe for the rest of my life. I have a grandson and one on the way, so I'd like to be around for both of them.

    Thanks

@ggerics That’s a good reason to get your health in order 😊 we want to be around for our loved ones as long as possible. The diet and lifestyle you adopt to lose weight is going to be same diet and lifestyle you keep for long term maintenance. Find a way to eat and move forever.. Going back to old habits only creates the same old health problems as you’ve experienced before. Some people say maintaining is harder than losing. I’m not sure cause I havnt reached maintenance yet 😉 I’m not in any hurry to get there either. So much to learn along the way. Slow and steady wins the race. 👍 I too have issues with consistency. So far I’ve been able to reign in my diet and change my lifestyle quite a bit but I still need more regular exercise.. my current goals are to exercise 5 days a week for at least 15 minutes, drink more water, and stay gluten free… I’m a work in progress…
