Depends on what you deem as effective. Some people can't go longer than 5 hours before eating something (like diabetics). Some can do 12:8, some 14:6, and some even 20:1. Is it effective for weight loss? Well NOT if you consume more calories that keeps you out of deficit.

Effective in what way, or for what?
If you mean is it an effective method for losing weight, then the answer will be the same as for any other method being used for that purpose ... if you stick with it and stay within your guidelines. For example, if you are restricting when you eat but then you over-eat when you do consume food, you might very well be eating more than your body needs and will not lose any weight.0 -
Fasting can be very effective for weight loss and treating gut problems if done correctly. It can also help improve focus. Personally, I fast for 5 days each week using an 18:6 schedule. According to Dr. Huberman, after 16 hours of fasting, the efficiency of ketosis doubles.0
