Hi - I’m going to try MFP to help me lose about 40 pounds. I’m in my 60s and am looking for support from others in my area. I’m happily married with a husband who doesn’t need to lose weight, so hoping to find people in my area of Virginia who want to lose weight and support each other.

I am not in Virginia, but I am in my early 70's and I need to lose weight. I hope you air your problems or need for support to your husband. Although he doesn't need to lose weight, he does need to realize that your overall health is just as important to him as it is to you. Good luck with your efforts. Feel free to vent to me if you need to. Losing weight is a struggle, and I realize that if I don't become consistent in my efforts, I won't be around to see my grandchildren grow. I will be missing a great part of my own life's fulfillment. So do ask your husband for his support. If it is his food choices that area problem, that's easy to overcome--not easy, but easier with his understanding. You can both eat for enjoyment and for weight loss. Again, Good Luck in your efforts, and do feel free to reach out at any time.

Thanks! My husband is very, very supportive. He keeps chips he likes to eat in his car. There’s never any food in the house that’s related to him that’s a problem.
It’s all just me - not eating healthy enough, regularly enough. I’m hoping if I use the MyFitnessPal app to record food and also connect with others via this app for support then some of this might help me.
