"So you think you bad huh??"

I changed my life around in 2010, and lost 70 pounds. I became a group fitness instructor, teaching classes such as kickboxing, cardio hip-hop, Zumba, and strength training. I loved powerlifting, and how I felt so empowered by it. I loved squatting heavy and what it did for my butt. I loved being a strong badass whose presence commanded respect. But most importantly, I loved being an inspiration to others, and teaching women that if I, a person who used to be the big girl (who doubted herself time and time again), could become fit and confident, then they most assuredly can. I even got my MS in Physical Education: Sports & Fitness, because I wanted to learn exercise science and to conduct research/develop effective strategies in health promotion to minorities living in low-income areas. You would expect someone who seemed so put together on paper to be put together in real life right? How can a person who knows the ins and outs of fitness, and who busted their *kitten* to get healthy end up back where they started?????
It's called being pregnant. I thought I had it in the bag. I continued teaching my group exercise classes up to 6 1/2 months. I was like, "My body will bounce back. If it doesn't I'll breastfeed, and the weight will melt off." Umm, no. To make a long story short, I developed pre-eclampsia, gained 65 pounds, and couldn't breastfeed. I lost 10 pounds and gained it right back. Being a new mother wore my behind out!!! I didn't have the energy to exercise. All I wanted to do was sleep. Sleep deprivation is no joke! The first 4 months, I was like, " I need my sleep! Screw working out." At about 5 months, I realized that he was in fact sleeping more, and that I was making bs excuses for too long. I was not managing my time well. I, in fact, did have time to workout. I missed working out. I was tired of feeling sorry for myself, and reminiscing on "how I used to be". I decided to try Insanity, get back on MFP, and put a plan into action.
I felt like a little girl on Christmas day when I got my Insanity package in the mail. I was happy to be at it again. It was hard getting through this program, but I did it. I lost 11 pounds, 15 inches from my bust, waist, hips, thighs, and arms, and my endurance improved significantly (e.g. being able to do 18 power jumps on day 1 vs. 34 on day 60). I was definitely impressed with my results, and it taught me a key lesson: Don't let the scale be your only measure of success.
I used to feel bad that I am back to where I started and having to do this a second time around. Instead, I know that it'll feel twice as sweet when I get back in shape. I will be able to relate to my clients more than ever now, and it fuels my passion for health promotion and advocacy for those in need even more. Thanks to those mfp friends who give me nothing but support and inspiration. I still have a long way to go. I hope to inspire others along the way, and continue to be that strong, confident woman I know how to be.
2/16/13 Two days after giving birth at 249 lbs. Every time I see this picture, I feel like burning that dress!
Progress Pics With Insanity: From 242lbs to 231lbs.
A total of 18 pounds lost since 2/16/13 and counting. To be continued...
Thank you guys for checking out my story! Good luck to you all

I know many people who have lost weight, then had a baby and put the weight back on. However, they have chosen not to try to lose the weight again. Why? They tell me they dont have time and they know it will be hard work. You are inspiring. Yes it will be hard work, but you are doing it!!
Congrats on the baby too, He will love having a fit mum who can keep up with him0 -
You're doing great! And definitely an inspiration...getting right back in there and doing what you know you need to do for your health! Remarkable...and you have a beautiful baby, too! Definitely a good reason to be healthy. Congratulations!0

Yup Round 2!! I'm also doing TurboFire. I really do miss being in the gym for the strength training, but at this moment, it's not practical. For now, it's better for me to exercise at home. I plan on investing in some heavy weights that I can use at home, like the adjustable dumbbells, or a barbell with 45lb. plates.0 -

Congrats on your progress thus far! I also had relationship problems, but decided not to post it because that would be two page thread in and of itself!! :P It feels good to start over again, and yes, having a good support system makes a huge difference!0 -

Thank you! It is very hard being a new mom. However, I keep putting it off, I'll continue to be unhappy and out of shape. Time flies so fast that he will be 2 or 3 years old and If I kept making excuses, I would be in the same situation if not worse. You're right, it is hard, but the pay off is so worth it.
Thanks also for congratulating me for my baby boy. I can already tell that he's going to be a very active child, so yes, I will definitely need to keep up with him!!0 -
Well done on some fantastic results, you can really see the difference that insanity has made!
I'm sure that in no time at all we will be a pair of smoking hot mommys ;-)0 -

Wow, that's a great way to put it! Thank you so much, and good luck with your fitness goals as well0 -
I was a little disappoint to be back where I started as well. I've had two pregnancies since I started here in October of 2010. I lost about 25 pounds before getting pregnant. I was amazed to only gain 15 pounds, and even more excited when I still lost the usual 30 after she was born. I gained 30 pounds with my last pregnancy and have lost 23 in these first three weeks since my baby was born. I'm still anxious to get back to some real exercise and to start working on the rest of the extra weight.0

Way to get back with it, and start kicking some *kitten*! Your doing great! Keep it up! (-:0
