Hi iv hit massive plateau after losing 3 stone.
And yes everything listed in my diary is 100% correct
I weigh and scan food and then cook myself
Iv lost 3 stone in 9 months so I have not changed anything really but cannot lose this weight.
I walk atleast 5k-15k a day but average 2-3 hour dog walks up/down hills.
Last 2 weeks I been climbing mountains like pen y fan and Brecon several times a week I cannot understand why I can’t lose anymore weight. I worked so hard last week my calves were killing me for 4 days walking like a duck.
I’m keto so eat meats, eggs. Low carb wraps from low carb company.

I normally get accused of lying on my diary but I literally put what I eat. I have adhd and autism so very particular when it comes to my diary.

You've already been given a lot of great advice on these type of posts. So, rather than repeat what's already been said, I'll simply say, if you're sure you're accurate, then you don't really need advice and I would recommend just continuing on as best you can. With that amount of exercise, it could be water weight, who knows, really.

First off all: what does 'massive plateau' mean? No weight-loss since when? And how quickly were you losing before?

If you didn't adjust your intake as you lost weight, you might just be at maintenance calories now (a lighter body needs fewer calories). In that case your weight loss would have slowed down gradually before stopping.

    Your diary:
    - it has a lot of 'perfect' rounded numbers - you say you're weighing everything?
    - I also see some foods in units instead of weight (slices, number of eggs...)

'Walking like a duck' is textbook for water retention, by the way, that would be my first thought!

I haven't seen your previous threads or advice you have been given.

But I also haven't seen anyone accused of lying in their diaries - common comments in threads about people not weighing accurately, forgetting about condiments, choosing inaccurate entries etc are trouble shooting trying to help people see common mistakes, not accusations of lying.

Having now looked up your previous threads,I see suggestions like I mentioned above and extremely defensive response to them.

The answers aren't likely to be different now so not sure why you asking again.

I’m not sure where to find your diary, is it still open?

You haven't said how long this plateau is. What you describe there sounds like a perfect recipe for water weight retention to aid recovery.

Have you redone your Goals here on MFP so the maintenance estimate is in line with your current weight? After losing 40 pounds your maintenance will be quite a bit lower than it originally was.

P.S. You're losing a pound a week, that's great. And with all that exercise you're doing, you've probably added some pounds of muscle too, i.e. recomp'd.

MFP is being weird about diaries. Sometimes you have to manually replace the number you get when trying to click into the diary with the username. Here you go: https://www.myfitnesspal.com/food/diary/equidivine

Congrats on losing the 3 stone! What's your current weight?

I also think you are likely retaining water from the hiking.

Are you using a weight trending app such as Happy Scale (iphone) or Libra (Android)? Focus on the trend, not the individual weigh-ins.

If you have a menstrual cycle, only compare yourself with the same point in as last cycle.

Congrats on the weight loss! That's awesome!

Looking at your diary, there are a lot of entries that seems like they are not measured: 4 pieces of bacon for example, and all of your measurements are suspiciously even (100g, 50g, 20g, etc). You stated you put down what you eat and that's great, but are you intentionally making your measurements come out to an even amount? Not calling you a liar, but most people eyeball or guestimate at some point and this usually turns out to be the culprit.

I just looked at yesterday so forgive me if I'm off base.

The exercise is great, but a wise person once told me: "Watch your calories to lose weight, you exercise for health benefits". The weight loss happens in the kitchen, the exercise is another component of your overall health.

As someone else asked, if you could give your stats and how long you've been at plateau that would probably help, as well.

Sounds like water weight. Exercise for health not just for weight management. Doing the second opens you up to pitfalls you can avoid.

Also both congratulations and a stark warning.

Your weight loss to date has been quite fast given the timeline you describe. I.e. you have been running a substantial deficit.

This is awesome if you have a lot of weight available to lose.

But now you have less extra energy reserves on you.

Also your body is entering the prime time to lead a nice revolution against the continuing pressure you're applying (look at weight loss and regain graphs).

You've put the effort to buy the ticket to the "maintain your loss lottery/raffle"

You really need to take a moment.

Appreciate the progress you've accomplished. You've done simply awesome so far and accomplished something many (most even?) of the people who are starting out here are *dreaming* to accomplish.

But having seen many of your past posts you need to appreciate it and take a deep breath and start thinking on protecting your accomplished losses.

Yes, you should push to continue on your path to your goals. But protecting what you've already done should come first.

Your health is already benefiting from your loss. Could you imagine being able to scamper up and down hills for hours till you waddle like a duck a year ago? You would have died out half way through and never been able to accomplish the exercise! So your health is awesomely improved.

And this should be protected more so than the speed of pursuing the rest of your weight loss.

You really need to think three to five years down the road not three months.

I would review volume of exercise and targetted deficit and would try to bring the two closer to what I can see myself doing long term.

The next year is where you fight to not give back the loss you've accomplished. Make things easy enough that you're enjoying the fight.

Feeling strong and accomplishing hikes should be celebrated and you should be moving, in my opinion of course, where you're happy to accept much slower lowering of your overall weight level.

A reminder, especially for females, that losing 1lb a month means that you often can weigh more at the end of the month than in the beginning.

Because 1lb of loss is just 1lb. But daily weight variation can easily be 2, 3 even 5 or 7lbs if you throw in hormonal cycles.

See advice above on how to work around that.

Again honest to goodness congratulations on having lost so much the last 9 months. Keep at it, but do start to take the time to smell the roses as opposed to rushing down the street!

I lost my best friend to suicide so past 4 weeks been tough walking been helping my head.
Defo feel fitter which is great as carried my 2 year old 3k on my back walking back from waterfalls as he was sleeping.

Plateau for past 6 weeks I would say iv put on weight or more up and down around 10 stone mark. I average around 1200 calories.

When I input the recipe it’s literally bacon is weighted in the pack. You can’t get it wrong.

I don’t use many condiments other than Nando’s sauce.

@equidivine After reading all your discussions and the feedback I don’t have much wisdom to bestow, but I wanted to say great work on the progress. What advice have you found most useful so far? I noticed you’ve been here for 7 years, what solid tips and tricks would you recommend to others just starting?

I’m truly sorry about your friend. Please take care of yourself and your little ones 💕

I looked back and see that you were 11 stone on April and 12 stone in January. Do get a weight trend app - it will show you that you are indeed making progress. When you lose just one more pound you will be in the Healthy BMI range.

While in the Healthy BMI range, progress will be very slow. Just keep plugging away and realize that often when the scale goes up it will be water weight from increased activity, high sodium, ovulation, PMS, etc.

Thank you both really appreciate it. For me walking really helps. Extremely difficult to do exercises and gym when I have 4 kids to keep on-top of. Walking dog really helps. I walk to and from school which works out 8000 steps normally.
Keto diet been a massive help and I feel better on it.

Having someone to do things with really helps but iv found that extremely difficult with my adhd and autism ontop of being busy mum and trying to find a business. My mental health isn’t great so exercise works for me lots of walking x

Walking is great for both your mental and physical well-being, I couldn’t agree more. And it’s such a relief to find a lifestyle diet that works, doesn’t it? That way we can always fall back on what we know works for us when things go sideways. Harness this knowledge you’ve gained after all these years and use it to maintain your quality of life. When you have mental health issues it’s no fun to compound it with weight issues, speaking from experience. So keep up the good work and be kind to yourself.
