Hi Kim! We are on a similar path. Feel free to add me!

My goal is 120 lbs in 18 months.

    My tips for you:
    - get a smart scale that can help you weigh yourself and get approximation of your body fat and base metabolic rate. Getting consistent weigh ins ( at least once a week) will be important for tracking your goal
    - Use the app. Track your calories. Add all the little things at first that you’re not sure is contributing, like oils, spices even. Just to get a good baseline for a week.
    - Attach a timeline to your goal. The amount of time it will take will depend on your base metabolic rate and activity level to determine a healthy calorie deficit for you. If possible and you’re serious about it, find a registered nutritionist in your area that can help in making those determinations, or even your general practicitioner.
    - Don’t worry if you don’t see the weight dropping immediately! Stick with it, and make sure you’re eating healthy foods and exercising consistently. Exercise can just be going for a walk, or picking up groceries. Just stay active as you get more and more energy from the weight loss. A common goal for many here is 5-10k steps per day.
    - Talk with others. I’ve met cool friends on MFP here that have been motivating me to keep on logging everyday. You can also get food ideas, recipe ideas, exercise advice, and more from the community.

These are a few of my tips that have helped me, but please take it with a grain of salt. I’m wishing you the best on your journey. I believe in you if you believe in you :) at the end of the day it’s all about staying consistent and making incremental, healthy progress towards your goal.
