How many calories when training?

Good afternoon everyone, Matteo here.

I’m eating around 1600 kcal in order to lose 0.5 kg/week according to MFP.

I’ve got a doubt. Should I eat the same amount of kcal even during the days I train? I’m not doing cardio and therefore my training consist of weights lifting.

What amount of kcal should I eat while training? Thank you!

Theoretically yes, because your activity level setting on MFP is only meant to take into account your non exercise activity.
That being said, strength training doesn't burn a whole lot of calories so the difference won't be that big.

You can see a calorie estimate if you log it as Cardiovascular > strength training (weight lifting, weight training). The duration is the full duration of the session: including the breaks in between sets, provided they are not ridiculously long (2-3min breaks are normal, I think).

    As Lietchi said.

So yeah, you should eat a bit more. Definitely get plenty of protein. If you're obese, 0.7g per pound is a good target. If you're leaner, go as high as 1g.

You won’t be building muscle on that few calories so you want to think about your meal timing especially your carb intake. Get a good amount of your carbs in 1-2 hours before working out. Protein should stay high and if possible, be consumed every 4 hours or so.

If by timing your carb intake properly if you get through your workouts ok then you can decide if you need more calories or not. Also see if you’re hitting you fat loss goal. If not, more calories may not be necessary as you may be taking in more than you think on a weekly basis.
