You usually lose and gain the same weight back because you lose then go back to your previous eating habits after losing some weight. Once you realize that you can’t do that and you need to continue with your lower calories you’ll be successful.

So it sounds like you’re on the right path so don’t blow it.

Hey, congrats! That's awesome, I know how frustrating it can be for a few months to stall, but 5 yrs is really tough.

So many things can affect our bodies from the meds we take to hormones or the exercise level we're able to do-- for me menopause hit my metabolism like a brick. It can be frustrating when you're eating, say, 1200 calories and all of a sudden that's just not doing anything for you anymore. And it's like, what? I have to go *lower*??!!! lol.

Glad you hung in there, even if yo-yoed a little, and didn't just completely give up or reverse course.

Congrats on reaching a lower decade!

There are mistakes that people commonly make that cause them to not lose weight that we might be able to spot if you change your Diary Sharing settings to Public. In the app, go to Settings > Diary Setting > Diary Sharing > and check Public. Desktop: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/diary_settings

It's not a plateau because you weren't consistent. You were going up and down because inconsistency kept it there. Once you get on a regular consistent habitual eating behavior that's in a moderate calorie deficit, you'll lose weight CONSISTENTLY.
