Roller coaster

Hi everyone. I just turned 60 and want to get off the weight loss roller coaster.
Every since I got a desk job and quit drinking and smoking my weight went up 40+ lbs.
the past 17 years has been out of control. Tracking has got to help.

Congratulations on quitting drinking and smoking: That's a huge plus for your health. You can reach a healthy weight, too, and that will pay off big time.

Tracking helped me when I joined here at age 59, after around 30 previous years of overweight/obesity.

Log your food, find your personal easiest ways to get calorie intake to a level that dials in a sensibly moderate loss rate, and stick with it (on average, the majority of the time). It can work.

I lost 50-ish pounds in just under a year, have been at a healthy weight for 7+ years since, now age 67 and feeling better than I i did at 45.

Honestly, it was easier than I'd expected. I could kick myself for not doing it earlier, because the quality of life improvement has been amazing.

I'm cheering for you to succeed!
