New to MFP

Hi I’m new to MFP. I am motivated by visual images This photo is an artichoke. I’m soon to be 59 and just learned that artichokes have these spectacular flowers. Today I will make it a priority to eat five servings of vegetables. Who’s with me? x3ffill92atk.jpeg

Sounds good to me! I had a giant plate of chopped up tomatoes, radishes, and cucumbers as part of breakfast. Technically that was probably three servings of vegetables right there but I just call it delicious!

Yes, an artichoke is a type of thistle!

I routine shoot for a minimum of 5, and ideally more like 10+ daily servings of varied, colorful veggies and fruits. Yum!

It's still active, though not daily . . . but there's a lot of good stuff in there along the way. Like any long-running thread on MFP, you'll find the new posts at the end, on the high-numbered pages. You can jump straight there with the page numbers/arrows at the bottom of each page.

I started here on MFP at age 59, lost weight for about a year, have been maintaining for 7+ years since, now age 67 and still at a healthy weight. Veggies are a big part of the story for me, for sure.

One sort-of warning: If the 5 servings is way more than you'd been eating before, I'd suggest gradually phasing in the higher levels. Suddenly increasing fiber intake can result in some digestive distress. Gradually increasing is gentler. Also, getting adequate hydration and fats helps with . . . um . . . digestive throughput. Back a few years, someone started a "10 servings of veggies/fruit daily" challenge, and a few who started suddenly experienced temporary issues. That's optional!

    Best wishes!
