I joined to lose the 20 lbs per physician recommendation. Have 6 months.

Hope to reach the goal but I am postmenopausal so it will be a challenge.

    Hello, and welcome!

Y'know, I thought it might be harder post menopause, but counting calories with MFP actually worked for me (at age 59, 20+ years after early menopause, while hypothyroid (properly medicated), after about 30 previous years of overweight/obesity). I'm now 67, and have been able to stay at a healthy weight since that loss. There's nothing special about me, so if I can do it, I'm pretty sure others can.

With patience and persistence, you can reach your goals - I'm pretty confident.

Wishing you success - it's very much worth the effort!

Welcome!! I'm also post-menopausal, as of today 85 lbs down. Of course I had a lot more than 20 lbs to lose but it's doable.

Yes the metabolism does slow down a bit as the hormones change but sometimes I think concerns are overblown. Just taking on healthier habits and being consistent can help. In the long run, no matter what you lose or how long it takes to lose it, healthier habits will pay off.
