Pizza for the Single Person

I'll be honest, I've done tortilla pizza, homemade pizza, and diet pizza. The tortilla pizza was okay, but not super filling. Homemade pizza with the thin pre-made Boboli pizza crust/turkey pepperoni/jalapenos is pretty good. But it has a lot separate pizza ingredients and the cost can sometimes be more than I want to spend--still one of my favorites. I can pre-cut the crust and only make the number of pieces I want. The diet pizza sucked.

I recently found a short cut. The homemade Boboli pizza is less calories but is more work.

EASY SHORT CUT FOR PIZZA-- CHEAP OPTION

I go to Aldi's (discount food chain)--they sell an EXTRA Large unfrozen pizza. I buy it, cut it up into 8 pieces, and freeze the individual pieces in a zip-lock bag. When I want pizza, I just pull out a piece or 2 and bake it. Quick and super tasty. About 310 calories for an oversized slice with pepperoni.
  • Pizza is about $6 at Aldis. I get 4 or 5 meals out of it.

BOBOLI --
Crust is about $5, Sauce bottle is about 1.99, Turkey Pepperoni is about 3.79 a pack. Jalapeno chopped .89 cents, Mozzarella $3.79 a bag. The sauce, pepperoni, jalapeno, cheese can be used about 8 or 9 times. The crust has to be bought each time. But i usually get 4 meals out of one crust. Not as cheap. Lower calories. If you are careful, Calories are about 190 calories.

Lowest calories are the tortilla pizzas--but they are only so-so. Plus, the tortilla pack can dry out so easily.

As a single person, having pizza by the slice works best for me. The Aldi pizza also saves me money.

I make my own personal pizzas using Stonefire mini-sized naan (the palm-sized ones). I either buy Winco pizza sauce or make one that is really simple, and freeze single tablespoon portions. I generally keep mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, and mushrooms on hand, so I can make make up one or two whenever I feel like it. Roughly 260 calories per pizza, and no leftovers to tempt me.

Naan is okay--the bread is a just a little thicker than I like. I am a thin pizza girl. I like the Aldi option because I don't always want to keep all the ingredients. Often my stuff goes bad before use it all when I buy the ingredients. I also have limited storage and limited refrigerator space.

THat's clever, slicing up the frzn pizzas before cooking so you can take 1 serving at at time.

Pizza is a rarity for me these days but when I'm in the mood I make a flourless cloud bread pizza dough crust. It's a bit time consuming but it's nice for a treat.

I'm gonna make extra next time and freeze individual slices, duh don't know why I never thought of that.

It really does make it easy. I can make a slice of pizza when I want it---it saves me money and calories--and I still get what I want. Although the pizza I slice up isn't frozen. I do freeze it afterward. I've tried cutting one up frozen and it's just too hard. :) But it is a time saver.
