New to MFP but not to dieting or related apps.

Hi there!
I am here for maintaining my weight and got into MyFitnessPal because of a study I was reading about intermittent fasting and the effect on visceral fat. The study mentioned the recommendation to track the food intake using apps like this. So here I am.

    Hello, and welcome!

I'm not an IF-er myself, just a long-term calorie counter now in weight maintenance. I'm a believer in tracking as a helpful tool, for those it suits.

    Wishing you success!

Hello. Can you link to the study? I'd be interested.

I saw a study, can't remember where I found it though, that when you're IFing and in ketosis you will burn more fat if you exercise in the day before you break your fast. I've found this has been working pretty well for me overall. I wonder if it's the same study. Either way, be interesting to see.

I do IF in the form of TRE (time-restricted eating). My window is 6-8 hrs per day. My diet is low-carb/high fat, so that has really helped keep my hunger low, making it pretty easy to stick to that window (I was an impulse eater/carb addict/nighttime grazer/binge eater-- basically, every bad habit rolled into one lol). If nothing else, sticking to IF has really helped me discipline myself so I don't eat mindlessly anymore.
