Weekend woes

Hi Everybody!

Ok, so here's the rub. I am pretty good about staying on track during the week. I plan meals, prepare everything in advance, workout...the whole shabang. But then the weekend comes and I tend to go nutso and binge and then feel really gross. So I was hoping that someone out there might have some advice for me. I don't want to give up on going out with people and and all the other fun weekend things, but I need to learn how to limit my indulgences. Tips, tricks?

I try to have a glass of water between each alcoholic drink. It helps slow me down. I also found the more alcohol I drink the more junk I eat so slowing the alcohol is key for me.

    that's what weekends are for.
    EAT
    DRINK
    BE MERRY!
  • I try to eat the same meals on the weekends as I do during the week. I know that doesn't always work. Try having a salad with lean protein before you go out-it fills you up. As for alcohol, well, not sure-I don't drink much anymore and when I did, I didn't have
to worry about my weight! The glass of water in between trick sounds like a good idea.

If you figure it out could you let me know? I'm currently hating my long weekend... I really only had one bad day but it was a 5,000 calorie day... I didn't even know I could eat that much anymore... Disgusted with myself.. and my tummy still hurts :(

Eating healthy and exercising is a lifestyle change, thus an everyday thing. If you know you will eat and or drink on the weekend, you might want to save some extra calories for those days. Just be sure you log all food and exercise to stay accountable, and because logging will show patterns you might want to change.

I am having the same issues. I loose 3 pounds from Monday to Friday (mostly water I am sure) then gain 2.999 back over the weekend. I KNOW this is the reason I am not loosing - I KNOW IT AND I CAN'T SEEM TO STOP IT!

So - I took a good hard look at what I was doing to myself and this weekend I decided that I was going to stick to my regular sources and caloric intake until dinner and also, log everything - even the 'party food' as best as I could. It being a holiday weekend - I wanted to have some fun. AND I had to log some giant numbers for the indiscriminant eating episodes...that's and eye opener! LOL...

I must say, I was rather successful! I would guess I ate somewhere in the neighborhood of about 5,000 calories LESS than my normal weekend. I decided that I couldn't possibly wake up one day and stop the weekend eating issues, so I am going to tackle it in baby steps (or bites, as it were). I felt accomplished, and I had fun, Vodka, Ice Cream and maccaroni and cheese! I may not loose 2 or 3 pounds per week, but if I can eat what I want (hopefully I will learn the meaning of "in reason") one or two MEALS per week not DAYS per week - then I think I can actally LIVE like this forever...

I think thats what they mean about a lifestyle change...that's a little freaky.

I'm thinking of not logging my alcohol... I tend to under eat so I can afford my alcohol which then leads to me being hungry and binging at 2 am so if I don't log my alcohol I think I might feel better about trying to eat normal during the weekend? I plan on looking at my net calories for the week and using my "bank" as achohol calories so I know about how many I can have before I go over for the week.

I don't know just a thought for me but ever since I started logging my alcohol my relationship with food has gotten a whole lot worse and I find myself overeating/binging almost every weekend.

Maybe it's just a lack of self control and will power and I'm blaming it on other things but I need a good kick in the @ss.

Bah! Thanks for all the input guys! I like the idea of splitting drinks up with water, I might also try it with snacks. :)

I do sometimes get overwhelmed trying to log what I eat on weekend because, unlike during the week, I don't plan it out as much and it takes so long to look things up. But I guess that's the hurdle I have to get over.

    You guys are superfantastic!
