Maybe join one of the challenge groups over in this area of the Community?

    https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/categories/challenges

That's a great way to meet like-minded, active people. You can read the intro posts there to get an idea what the particular challenge or group is about, and join in ones that suit you.

As an aside: If you main goal is weight loss, eating within your calorie goal is the key thing to do. That will be the direct influence on fat gain/loss.

Yes, nutrition is important for health, body composition, and more. Also, nutrition can indirectly affect weight loss by influencing energy level or appetite, but the direct effect is still via calories.

For sure, don't beat yourself up if you're trying to make changes in your eating, and slip up sometimes. Guilt and self-recrimination burn zero extra calories, feel icky, and in the worst cases can lead to giving up.

Patient persistence is key to any of changing body weight, developing fitness, or improving health. That you may have slip-ups occasionally - which we all do - isn't very important. What's important is what you do afterward. I vote for spending a few minutes thinking about what triggered the slip, revising the plan to minimize chances of repeating the slip in similar circumstances, then getting back on plan ASAP.

As long as you keep on working at it, finding an easier/better approach as you go, you'll get to your goals.

    I'm cheering for you!
