Why no loss?

Hi, did anyone here ever have a good week, kept to calories, excercised, tracked everyday etc...but no weight loss? My weight stayed the same despite my best efforts. I'm here 5 weeks and have lost 7LBS. Any feedback greatly appreciated. X

7 lbs in 5 weeks is fantastic!
Sometimes weeks do happen with no loss.
Keep up the good work.1 -
Weightloss is NOT linear. You can do the same exact thing two weeks in a row and get a good result one week, and nothing the next. This is NOT uncommon. The key is just staying consistent.

That's pretty normal, honestly. If you happen to be a woman of an age and stage to have menstrual cycles, it's almost inevitable.
Look at your weight loss as a rolling average over 4-6 weeks, or from the same relative point in one monthly cycle to the next, if that applies to you.
If you haven't already seen it, you might get some useful information from reading this thread, especially the article linked in the first post:

What the others said. 7lbs in 5 weeks is a fantastic result! You should be proud of yourself.
For some perspective: for the last 4 days now I've logged exactly the same weight. First I had the *kitten* and regained the lost poop weight again of course. Thus water weight oddity. Then I got my period, hence more water weight oddity. I'm sure I've lost some tiny bit of weight in the meantime. It's just not showing up on the scale due to other factors.0 -

Short answer. Yes, that has happened. In fact, there have been weeks where my weight went up and stayed up for another week or so. Then there was a big loss to lower than I was. Weight loss is not a straight line down. Things like water weight from various factors including injury or stress can mask weight loss. Food waste building up in your system, and probably other factors I can't think of right now all contribute to scale weight. As long as your logging it accurate trust that fat is coming off even when the scale doesn't show it. A final note, I had a three week stretch with no weight loss, however, during that time my pant size went down a whole size.1 -
Don't see the weight scale every other day, it will surely demotivate you. checking once a week is a good approach. We all lost weight in terms of fat, muscle, and water weight. Simply see how you feel internally, if you are feeling more energetic and fresh then you are on the right track but when you are feeling lethargic and low energy then you have surely dropped the muscle mass which is not a good sign.
Healthy weight loss is a long-term plan. And you are on the right track because you have lost 7lbs in 5 weeks. As per experts losing half to 1 pound a week is a good approach.

I'm with you on the once a week scale visit however, I do have friends that prefer the daily weigh-ins. Over time the daily weigh ins can show your progress with all the ups and downs you don't see with a weekly weigh in. This is motivating to some people more than the once a week plan.1
