Chronic illness and Steroid Hunger

Living with Lupus and RA, currently on prednisone and it makes my appetite sore! It doesn’t help that I am a sugar feen but would love to know if others are struggling with no exercise high appetite?

    It's really frustrating to be on medication that increases your appetite >.< I was able to get off mine (different meds; different conditions) but realize this is by no means an option for everybody. My brother manages his appetite increasing meds with a lot of exercise.

    I know it's tough to exercise when your joints hurt, but perhaps you can get a referral to a physical therapist who can help you design a program that works for you. Have you tried swimming, walking, Tai Chi, or gentle yoga?

    Joint pain can make it hard or painful to move. But moving and gently using your joints can be the best way to relieve symptoms like pain and stiffness. Walking, biking, swimming, yoga and tai chi are all great ways to move your body without putting too much stress on your joints. Ask your healthcare provider which types of activities are safest for you.

    It's also important to find the foods that fill you up for the least calories. It's crucial for me to hit my protein and fiber goals in order to stay full.

    I have a sweet tooth, too, but when I eat more fruit I am less tempted by higher calorie ice cream and baked goods.
