Just Give Me One Month - November 2023

Welcome to your November 2023 daily tracking thread. Brr, it's getting frosty -- some of us with snow already, and many of us are returning to indoor workouts. Regardless of if you're just getting started, or trying to get back on target with your weight loss goals, join us here daily to post your current weight, and keep motivated seeing everyone's progress, including all the ups and downs in this journey.

All are welcome to join, even if you see this thread mid month – just jump on in. And while most users do post daily, even if you don’t weigh yourself every day, you’re always welcome to post your progress here.

Some abbreviations you might see: MFP = MyFitnessPal, SW = Starting Weight,
GW – Goal Weight, UGW = Ultimate Goal Weight

    Nov 1: 193.0 Candy has been everywhere and I have partaken way too much. That is done. My knee is painful w/arthritis onset and that is impacting activity (scary what this portends). Back to better habits. Drink the water!!!

    This is my first week on MFP. I started last Friday. So far, so good. I have tracked all of my calories for 5 days, drank way more water than usual, and have done a small workout every day. My goal is to lose 2 lbs per week.

    I found some old (ancient?) photos yesterday and can hardly believe I was so tiny at one point in my life. So renewed focus here. If I did it once (mind you, years ago and better functioning everything), I can do it again.

    Nov 1: 193.0 Candy has been everywhere and I have partaken way too much. That is done. My knee is painful w/arthritis onset and that is impacting activity (scary what this portends). Back to better habits. Drink the water!!!
    Nov 2: 192.4 Checked the xray results from monday and i'm stage 2 osteoarth in my lt knee. So fedup with more health issues. I'm already doing so much to reduce my probs. Guess this is a cattle prod (in the knee no less) to lose the weight.
    Nov 3: 191.4 TGIF My mother is coming this weekend to visit to see Harvey. We usually go out for Sun breakfast. Have to stay on plan while she is here.

    @dutchgirl188 Unfortunately, you can't really edit a post (you can for the first hour, then it's locked). So you can just copy your original post, and add to it in a new post. :) Congrats on your success!

    I hope you get some answers and ways to treat your knee, @cory17 . My knees have been terrible for years, and both of my parents suffer from knee issues, so I assume some of this is genetics. Some of it of course isn't. It definitely impacts what exercises I can/can't do.

    Nov 3: 191.4 TGIF My mother is coming this weekend to visit to see Harvey. We usually go out for Sun breakfast. Have to stay on plan while she is here.

    Thanks @ManifestingToday ! Definitely interested in what treatment had most impact for you? and whether you were able to avoid replacements, as thats what would like to avoid if possible?

    I really haven't had any treatments. When it flares, I have to wrap it with an ace bandage for some extra support (mostly my right knee), and elevate, advil, ice and heat, and generally rest it as much as possible. Once or twice it's gotten bad enough I've had to stay off of it for a day or two, using crutches, but it's been some time since I've had that happen. I go through some phases of doing leg exercises to strengthen the muscles around the knee, that helps a lot. If I lost weight, I'm sure that would help, but even at my fittest in my 20's I had knee issues from stair climbers and excessive exercise. I've been fighting this pretty much my entire adult life. But I don't do lunges, squats -- anything that is going to cause issues. My dad has had knee surgery twice. My mom is on meds for arthritis. I'm hoping to avoid both of those measures as long as possible.

    I have been fighting off a stomach bug for about 18 hours. I'm a little better today, but yesterday was unpleasant. Came on quick, and not 100% sure this isn't something bad I ate vs. a bug. My food intake is wonky because of it, so the numbers are going to fluctuate.

    It's Friday, and I'm finally back down a few pounds. I really want to keep this downward trend. It would be so nice to flirt with 199 by the end of the year.

    Nov 10: started back on MFP last week. Was on WW but I couldn’t stick with the plan. I’m scared to weigh myself hence the unknown starting weight. My goals for today are to stick with single portions and drink water. Baby steps.

    Jumping in late but here we go! My coworkers and I started a 10 week weight loss challenge this past Monday and I'm bound and determined to win the pool...or at least not come in last...haha.

    I'm basically just drinking a ton of water, eating veggies for snacks and following a 16/8 intermittent fast schedule. I've been fasting from 6:30pm to 10:30am.

    This morning, as I was working in my office (today's a remote day for me), my husband was making a breakfast sandwich for himself. The delicious smells wafting down the hall were k*lling me. He came in for something and I snapped at him. I apologized and said, "Sorry, I'm just hungry right now and I still have two hours to go." He said, "Just eat something and try again tomorrow."

    No sir..I won't just "try" again tomorrow. Because when I do that, it turns into trying for 15 years and I'm just done with that!
