    He there,

can you be a bit more precise what you try to achieve? Did you cook for example chili con carne and then searched the database for chili con carne?

This is not the right way to go. The database is usersourced, and you have no idea what's inside such recipe. If you cook something then log all the ingredients. You can also use the recipe builder for this.

if you want to log a recipe that's somewhere within the MFP app then I'm sure someone else can help you as I never looked into this.

Does it give you the number of servings? Usually they at least do that.

Better, even with recipes from within the app: Put the recipe in the recipe builder. Weigh the food in grams when it's finished (cooked) - total weight of all the servings. Set the number of servings to the number of grams. (It'll give you an "are you sure" kind of message, but just continue). Then, when you eat some, weigh the portion, and if it's (say) 137 grams, log 137 servings.

If you want to be more approximate, then just make the recipe, total up all the ingredients via the recipe builder or by adding it as a meal, then eyeball to decide how many portions you want it to be after you see it, and either set that number as the number of servings in the recipe builder, or log that fraction of the saved meal (like if you decided it was 8 servings, then log 0.125 of the meal).
