Looking for accountability friend(s). My expectations will be to hold me accountable on my meal plan, get me to exercise, listen to me vent, and hold me accountable on my weigh-in’s. Also, and lucky you, I would like you to be my personal alarm clock. But, can you make me a better mother, wife, and boss too? I’ll need a weekly analysis on how I’m doing and strategies to improve- That would be great. But, in no way can you disagree with me, because… how dare you.

Important details of note: I will rarely check back in with you, if ever, and since this is a friendship position you will not be compensated. And lastly, I will not be taking any of your advice, so there’s that. We’ll just go in circles forever and ever and ever and….

Please message below your qualifications, age, gender, how much you make, 3 interesting things about yourself, and how successful you are at changing other people’s lives. Like, if you’re not a social media influencer are you even trying? We all know that’s what makes a true expert.

Soooo excited to meet my new Besties!

Okay okay okayyyyyy…. Clearly joking on all counts. You don’t have to hold me accountable, because honestly, I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THAT MEANS! Lol! But, it would be fun to jump on a treadmill and chat with someone or a group online so the time goes by faster. Does anything like this exist? You’d think during the pandemic there was zoom group workouts or something to keep it more interesting and fun. I’d love to have a friend to walk and talk to on the treadmill. But not a Pelaton screen pre loaded video, a real human. Pointers or recommends? Thanks in advance ☺️.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Ok, I think I need to reevaluate some of my real life friendships because some of this is actually expected... :o

I listen to podcasts while working out. I used to while gardening as well, but since I've been doing mindfulness classes, have cut way back. Since a lot of my podcasts are political, and sometimes it's too much, I also have audio books from the library. Between the Hoopla and Libby apps, I've been able to find everything I'm interested in.

You know what, I didn’t think of podcasts or audiobooks. That’s not a bad idea if no one fills out a “friend” application 😏.

I get all of these from the podcast app on my phone but am giving the individual pages as I don't know your phone or that of other readers.

Here's a weight loss podcast which feels heavily CBT influenced: https://www.halfsizeme.com/category/podcast/

I used to listen to "Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me!" on the radio in my car, but now podcast it so I can get the whole show: https://www.npr.org/podcasts/344098539/wait-wait-don-t-tell-me I do other NPR shows as podcasts too.

I listened to Christopher Kimble's cooking podcasts for years but not so much these days: https://www.177milkstreet.com/radio

My current audio book is a lot of fun and the reader is VERY good:

    Beginnings

Part 1 of the Lily Singer Adventures series

Saving the world is such a bother when it makes you late for tea. Wizard Lily Singer is kept busy managing library archives, studying magic, and trying to keep her witch friend Sebastian from dragging her into trouble. Unfortunately, he loves adventure even more than she loves being left alone. She doesn't want to investigate a malignant spell in a haunted house, but Sebastian is promising rare books as the reward. She also doesn't want to hurt her family, but is tired of being lied to about her past. And she definitely doesn't want to get stuck in a dangerously unstable time loop, but Sebastian is in trouble-again . . . Strangling her friend, as satisfying as it would be, won't fix her problems. If she wants answers, and to not miss tea, she had best find the right spell for the job-before everything goes to hell, and takes them all with it.

Okay you got me on the hook. I’ve been looking into topics I’m interested in and these popped up.
    1. Philosophize This
    2. Stuff You Should Know
    3. BBC Radio’s In Our Time
    4. The Happiness Podcast
    5. On Being

I’ll check out your suggestions, it’s more interesting when it’s been recommended. Bonus points if I lose track of time or don’t want to get off the treadmill because it’s so good.

As for audiobooks, I’ve received a few recommendations but they were so depressing! I just can’t. I’m trying to get these endorphins for a reason (Iykyk). Or it triggered my self diagnosed misophonia. I think fantasy is just the right amount of degrees-of-separation where I can buy into the story without losing myself in it, especially if their voice is soothing.

    Thanks for the thoughtful response!

Another fantasy recommendation: I've listened to a few of the later Penric & Desdemona novellas as my library system didn't have the later ones in book format. That series is #2-12 in the larger World of the Five Gods. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_of_the_Five_Gods It looks like they are all read by Grover Gardner. https://www.overdrive.com/series/penric-desdemona I like him, too. Amy McFadden, above, has more flair.

They're good, but the earlier books, #1, 13, and 14 are amazing. I read the series mostly in publication order: 13, 14, 1, and then Penric & Desdemona in internal chronological order, which is the right way to read it ;) However, Lois McMaster Bujold does a good job of rebuilding the world for new readers who come in out of order while not being repetitive to chronological reading order readers. So I'd give my blessing to someone who wanted to start in on the Penric novellas without first reading the novels. (14 does contain spoilers for 13.)

If you like (not tech intensive) space operas, her Vorkosigan Saga has won numerous awards: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vorkosigan_Saga
Definitely consume in internal chronological order, after starting with "Shards of Honor" - save "Falling Free," which takes 200 years before, for when you are in love with the universe.

Thank you! I’ll give it a try, I’m open to anything. I have a feeling my husband will completely embrace the storyline and take over, which I find even more intriguing about your recommendation. I can see it now. He’ll look at me like I’ve grown 2 heads, ask me how all of a sudden I’m so cool, and where I found this piece of art. He introduced me to Star Wars, DC Comics, Marvel, Harry Potter, Brothers Grimm, Anime, Mythology based stories, etc, so he thinks it’s been his thing all this time. Great recommendation and fun.
