Can't find a HRM/Pedometer combo that isn't a watch.

Hello everyone. So, I just started getting back into MFP and fitness/calorie counting after 9 months of growing complacent in the middle of my weight loss journey. I went from 176 to 141, then gained about 5-7 lbs back recently (it fluctuates). Really determined to nip this in the bud, and refuse to gain another pound again. So I'm back on track and want to reach my ultimate goal weight of 125.
So here's the deal. I don't own a car and live within walking distance of work (about a 35-40 minute walk away). I want to get a decent pedometer to track how many steps I take and how many calories I would burn if I were to walk to work everyday.
BUT I also want a decent Heart Rate Monitor (HRM) to keep track of whether I'm reaching my target heart rate during workouts.
Apparently, from scouring Google and Amazon, there are no pedometer/HRM devices that aren't sports watches or chest straps. I hate wearing clunky jewelry and would really feel uncomfortable wearing a watch or chest strap 24/7 to count my steps, and favor the pocket pedometer or clip-on pedometer styles. But none of them have a HRM feature! :frown:
Closest I could find was the Withings Pulse, it looks like a pocket pedometer but if you press your finger to it it also measures your heart rate. Perfect - except the $100 price tag! :explode:
Anyone know of a pocket pedometer that measures your heart rate that isn't so expensive?? I really can't afford to drop $100 on a fitness gadget right now. It only needs to do those two things really.
