Strength follow by Excessive Cardio Workout

Hi guys, I have a exercise question and would like to hear some advice.

First thing I have to mention; I love doing cardio and usually spent more than an hour on a machine, rest a bit, and then move to another machine.

In the beginning of August, I have included strength training in my workout session. Due to the short exercise time on weekdays, I usually get 1hr Strength and 1hr Cardio at most. On weekends however, I still get my 1hr of Strength workout in and after that, I will spend 3hr on Cardio.

Am I doing Cardio too excessively? Will this do more harm than good?

too much for what? what are your goals?

if you just want to improve / maintain health and fitness, yes you are doing too much cardio.

if you are preparing for a marathon or some other endurance event, three hours is appropriate.

I'm not sure what excessive cardio really means. As meerkat70 pointed out it depends entirely on your goals.

I love to run and am passionate about cycling. A two hour run is very appealing and, on the weekends if I have time, I'll bike for hours but, in all honesty, I couldn't imagine spending several hours in the gym on machines....... but that's me not you. If you're enjoying your workouts who am I to suggest you do otherwise.
