So, so far iv lost 60lb over 20 months. Its been a challenge.
BUT please can someone tell me why I only loose weight after ovulation and leading up to my period? Once my period comes and up until after ovulation, I do not loose weight, I gain weight! I'm running every other day doing couch to 5k. I walk for 3 miles every evening, on the days I'm not running I walk in the mornings before work. I do approx 15000 steps a day and eat 1700 calories! It's very disheartening stepping on the scales when I'm putting in 100%. Can anyone relate?

Water weight retention. Many women store more water in their bodies during certain parts of their cycle. And this, while not being bodyfat also has a weight. Thus this hides weightloss on the scale while you're still losing bodyfat. Once you reach another part of your cycle the water drops and the weightloss shows. Have a look if there are moments within your cycle where you have to pee (more) throughout the night. Another option is that some women are a bit more constipated during parts of their cycle and poop a bit less. Also poop has weight and hides fatloss. There are also the rare whooshers: people who lose fat but at the same time hold more onto water for a longer period of time. Then, after a while all the water whooshes away in 1-2 very annoying nights and the fatloss finally shows up on the scale. It's just normal and totally part of being alive.3

Thank you!! Maybe I should just weigh in the last week of each cycle each month so the scales don't effect my moods....I get very down but never give in....my ankles are swollen for 3 weeks of the month so that explains the water retention. Iv got 30lbs left to go.....3

You could also weigh every day, in the morning after getting up and after going to the loo, naked. Then you get a much better understanding of those fluctuations. But of course if the scale affects your mood so badly then just weighing once per month might be a good idea.
Wow, just 30 more lbs. That's brilliant! Keep in mind that the less you have to lose the slower weightloss will be because a smaller body needs less energy to run. But you've got it!3 -
Please read the stickies at the top of the page. It’s incredibly helpful if you want to know if you’re losing weight at a normal rate, if you’re truly plateauing, what to expect, and discusses normal weight variations. It’s at the top of the board and it’s changed many of our minds and lives. IMO, if someone means what they say, they will do the research first. You’re doing great, so check out the posts to know why! ☺️2
