Hi,
I was thinking of purchasing 10 and 15kg hex dumbbells but they're so expensive for me.
Where can you find cheap ones that will do?
Pleas note I can't join the gym or anything right now. Just need to make do at home.

I'm in the UK.

I use Mirafit weights as they were the lowest price in the market and with cheap delivery (but surprisingly good quality), but they’re still not cheap. Your best bet is to check FB marketplace in case someone is selling second hand ones - I bought mine during the pandemic when dumbbells were like gold dust!

Yeah your best bet might be used. Maybe you'll get lucky in a month or two when the people making their NY resolutions now buy new stuff, then realize next month they won't use them :-)

I think ultimately you'd be better off with either a set of adjustable db's, or loadable db's. The problem with buying fixed db's is when you need heavier or lighter, you need more of them, which means a lot more expense, and also more space needed. You also can't use that weight you've bought if you get a barbell later, so you'd need to start buying plates then.

With adjustable db's, you can easily switch from 5 to 50 pounds or so per db. This should future proof you for a while. The initial expense may be more than you're looking for right now, but in the long term you'll probably save money. Check the garagegymreviews YT channel for reviews of many brands. Maybe you can get lucky in the used market too.

With loadable db's, it's just the sleeves, then you can buy 5 and 10 pound plates cheaply I'm sure. They're much slower to switch weights than adjustable db's, but the benefit is those plates you buy can be used on a barbell or EZ-bar too if you eventually plan to get those.

You might also need a bench? I'd recommend a FID, preferably with several angles not just 45 and near 90. Decline isn't essential, but it opens up the possibility of doing hamstring curls with your db, among other benefits.
